Couples Therapy Webinar Outline

This couple’s therapy webinar would be suitable for those therapists who work already with couples or are planning to work with couples. We will introduce and expand on the work of renowned Gestalt Couples therapists Bob and Rita Resnick . We will demonstrate attendees the concept of a process based model of working with couples rather than a content model. The webinar will support attendees to work from a framework of using difference as connection material, and help couples move away from the outdated model of fusion as a means of avoiding dealing with the differences they encounter. For many couples it is not the difference that creates the problem, but how they deal with the difference. The webinar will be a mixture of theory and a short live demonstration of the model (with a real live couple). There will be space for discussion of the live work and hopefully some humour along the way.

ABOUT KEVIN McCANN
Kevin McCann, M.I.A.C.P.
Kevin was born in Lurgan, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland.
Kevin graduated from University College Cork (U.C.C.) with a H.Dip. (Hons) in Gestalt Therapy and Post Grad. H.Dip. in Integrative Psychotherapy Studies.
He continued his training with Gestalt Associate Training Los Angeles (G.A.T.L.A.), becoming a certified Gestalt Therapist with G.A.T.L.A. in 2011. He works as a group leader on the G.A.T.L.A. summer residential Couples Therapy training program. Kevin travels extensively, lecturing in Gestalt therapy, both in Ireland and abroad, and is a visiting lecturer at several Gestalt Institutes.
He is an accredited supervisor, and has 30 years experience in higher level education and training.
Kevin is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counseling and Psychotherapy, Slovenian Association for Gestalt Therapy.
As well as lecturing and running workshops, Kevin also runs a private practice for individual psychotherapy and couples therapy and works as a support consultant for psychotherapists internationally   .
He is co-founder of the Irish Gestalt Training Institute, which offers postgraduate training in Gestalt Therapy.

ABOUT FAVORITO BARBARELLO

M.Sc. Gestalt Psych., H. Dip. Integrative Psych., Dip. Gestalt, Dip. Craniosacral Therapy. M.I.A.C.P., R.C.S.T., Certified Gestat Therapist (G.A.T.L.A.)

He was born in Italy and have been living in Ireland since 1998. He trained initially as a craniosacral therapist, and subsequently started training in Gestalt psychotherapy at G.A.T.L.A. with Bob and Rita Resnick in 2004. For the last number of years, he has been a teaching assistant in G.A.T.L.A. for the couples program and the Gestalt program, and also part of the visiting faculty at several training centres in Europe. Favo had a very busy private practice in Ireland, and with his husband, Kevin McCann, they run workshops at home and away. Thay set up the Irish Gestalt Training Institute in 2013.

In May 2022, they have relocated in beautiful and sunny Crete, where he continue to work online.

He has a keen interest in bodywork and humour.
