5 kilometer hinderløp, 25 tekniske hindere, naturlige hindere og motstand fra ville berserkere som vil fysisk vil stå i veien for deg!

THE BATTLE OF RAUMARIKI 2018
Raumr the Old greets from Valhalla and bid you all welcome to his table!
We are fast approaching the ultimate weekend of 2018. We are over the top exited, as you should be. This will be monumental, fun, and above all DIRTY!
This will be an awesome obstacle course, where you participate according to your own confidence, but also ambitions.
There are three courses possible:
BERSERKR 5K @ 1000AM Saturday, 29 september 2018
RAGNAROK 10K @ 1200PM Saturday, 29 September 2018
VALHALLA 21K @ 1200PM Sunday, 30 September 2018

The Battle of Raumiriki will find place in Raumariki/Romerike in Akershus – Norway
Office @ Team Rubicon will be open all week (Mon-Fri) prior to event between 10.00-18.00. Startnumbers can be picked up Thursday and Friday (27-28) between 18.00 – 21.00 @ Askheim 1, 22 Gjerdrum. In Norway that is!
Things to bring in your longship:
There will be tents/sleeping-spaces open for a number of people. Accomodation is for free, but you have to register. Info will show up in your mailbox. This is communal spaces. Any special needs must be voiced in advance.
Bunkbed – sleepingbag, a air matress for those who are not built like a Norseman, and a warm fur of any animal (dead preferrably). Vikings travel light and easy.
For the obstacle course. Everything needed for going to battle. Sturdy shoes, helmet and a sword. The only thing we can recommend for a day out in the beautiful nature, except costumes, running-outfit and whatever you see fit to carry, are gloves… Some obstacles you will find easier with gloves. Be prepared to be mocked though. No viking ever used gloves…

The location is Ask in Gjerdrum municipality -Akershus
Located just outside Oslo, approx. 25 min by car. 20 mins from Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) by car.
How to get there without a car? Follow the road!

FACTS:
Gjerdrum (Norse Gerðarvin) The first element is the genitive of a river name Gerð and the last element is vin f ‘meadow, pasture’. The river name is derived from the Norse word garðr meaning ‘fence’ and so the meaning is ‘the river whose function is a fence (and/or as a border)’. You got it?
Before the unification of Norway, Romerike(Raumariki) was a petty kingdom. It had its age of greatness between the 5th and 7th centuries.
The 6th-century Goth scholar Jordanes wrote in his Getica about a tribe located in Scandza which he named the Raumarici and which seems to be the same name as Raumariki, the old name for Romerike.
In Beowulf and Widsith, the tribe is mentioned as the warlike Heaðo Reamas (i.e. battling Reamas, for the correspondence between Reamasand Raumar compare Geatas and Gautar).
Raum the Old
In the «Hversu Noregr byggdist» and in Thorsteins saga «Víkingssonar», the name is attributed to the mythical king Raum the Old. According to the latter saga, the members of the family were big and ugly, and because of this big and ugly people were called «great Raumar».The Old Norse form of the name was Raumaríki, but the name must be much older (see below). The first element is raumr m («person from Romerike»); the final element is ríki n («kingdom).
In Norse times the lower part of Glomma was called Raumelfr («the river of the Raums»)
Rakni’s Mound (Raknehaugen) has been estimated to date to around 550 AD (possibly 552 AD). It is located in the very heart of Romerike. Raknehaugen is a burial mound (gravhaug) from the Old Norse word haugr meaning barrow or mound. It is assumed that it is named after a king with the name Rakni. At 77 metres in diameter and more than 15 metres high, Raknehaugen at Ullensaker is the largest barrow in Northern Europe.

I januar 2010, rammet et jordskjelv med 7,3 på Richter’s skala Haiti. De første rapportene om de enorme skadene gjorde at en gruppe med militære veteraner samlet seg til et team og deployerte til Port-au-Prince for å støtte nødhjelpsarbeidet.
På Haiti ble det klart at militære veteraner er svært egnet og forberedt til å kunne gi umiddelbar nødhjelp, i en periode etter en katastrofe før de store nødhjelpsorganisasjonene kommer på plass.
