I våres holdt Carl Todd sitt første kurs på norsk jord, og det var en stor suksess. Deltakerne var svært fornøyde og det ble allerede da snakk om at det var interesse for et nytt kurs - endelig har vi fått landet dette.  

I april 2024 kommer Carl Todd tilbake og denne gangen med tematikken, “A functional approach to managing neck, shoulder and rib disorders”.  

Carl Todd er en profilert osteopat i Europa og selv om han har jobbet mye innenfor idretten så er dette et kurs som passer alle som jobber i klinisk praksis, uavhengig av pasientgruppe. Carl har en energisk og pedagogisk formidlingsevne og dette smittet godt over på deltakerne i våres. 

Kurset vi får oppleve neste vår vil også i all hovedsak bestå av praktisk og klinisk rettet arbeid, men det blir også påfyll av teoretisk kunnskap.  Hold av datoen og meld deg på i dag! 

KURSBESKRIVELSE

Based upon current scientific research combined with clinical experience developed from working in elite level sports. This course is aimed at a wide range of healthcare professionals to enhance their evidence informed clinical practice for developing clinical, therapeutic and reasoning skills. 

Two-day course comprising of a functional, biomechanical and biopsychosocial analysis model, that can be used as a diagnostic tool to highlight kinetic chain and or specific dysfunctions to the upper spine and shoulder girdle complex. Application of treatment using advanced manual techniques to the cervical, thoracic spine, rib cage and shoulder girdle complemented by management strategies incorporating facilitation techniques and segmental control exercises. 

LÆRINGSUTBYTTE

  • Learn the fundamental understanding between the association of the cervicothoracic-shoulder complex. 
  • Simplify the clinical examination of the articular, myofascial and neural systems specific to the individual. 
  • Develop a rationale to make an informed decision for treatment based upon clinical understanding. 
  • Understanding of exercise dosage encompassing non-functional, functional motor control and work capacity parameters to address mobility and CNS adaptations. 
  • Develop a rationale to make an informed decision to prescribe appropriate corrective exercise based upon clinical reasoning. 
  • Case studies to develop and challenge clinical reasoning. 

DR. CARL TODD

Dr Carl Todd is a registered osteopath, lecturer, published author and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Carl has a PhD in orthopaedics and clinical science, Masters degree in sport injury medicine and an Honours degree in osteopathy.

In 2005 Carl Todd became the first osteopath to be appointed by the Football Association and work with the England Football team. He has attended five FIFA World Cup tournaments and In this time amassed over an amazing 200 England games as part of the England National Football Team. Carl has been consultant osteopath to Chelsea Football Club since 2008 working as part of the medical support for the first team players across all competitions. From 2019 Carl has provided osteopathic care for Track & Field Athletics, specifically providing performance support to Dina Asher-Smith.

His clinical experience with both elite and amateur level athletes has led to Carl developing his own unique style of integrating osteopathy and corrective exercise rehabilitation, encompassing bio-psychosocial, biomechanical, and functional rehabilitation for patient management and re-education. His unique areas of interest are spine, hip and groin rehabilitation pre and post surgery and specifically injury prevention. Carl lectures regularly at medical conferences both nationally and internationally on the subject of sports injury management and rehabilitation, he has over twenty published articles in peer reviewed journals including a clinical textbook published on Amazon: Managing the Spino-Pelvic-Hip complex: an integrated approach.
