Resonance of the Extraordinary Vessels: with Jamie Hamilton
Velkommen på kurs med dyktige og engasjerte Jamie Hamilton. Jamie er både akupunktør, urtemedisiner og shiatsu utøver. Han er registrert i British Acupuncture Council. Han jobber som lærer i kinesisk medisin, og har en rektor stilling. Denne gangen vil han ta med oss på en spennende reise med de ekstraordinære meridianen. Mange av oss kjenner på litt kunnskapshull på dette feltet. Vi vil her få en større faglig forståelse av hvordan disse kan benyttes i vår kliniske hverdag, spesielt på dypere problemstillinger og kroniske plager. We learn about the extraordinary vessels when we study Chinese medicine. We may or may not use the vessels in our day-to day practice. We may or may not understand their function, and nature. The extraordinary vessels are often an enigma in Chinese medicine! Actually many or most of us practitioners do not really understand what they are, how they work, and how to use them in the clinic. This two day seminar is aimed to help take this uncertainty away for good: because we can in fact get to grip with their nature and function with good source materials, and good learning experiences about them. So in nature, everything resonates, and in the body the channel system resonates with itself, the body, and the surroundings. The extraordinary vessels are an indispensable part of the channel system, functioning at the deepest of levels, yet in illness becoming often chronically imbalanced. We will together explore in detail the nature of these vessels, delving into a wonderful and profound source text: Li Shi-Zhen’s Exposition on the Eight Extraordinary Vessels which highlights their trajectories, function, points and uniquely their function within systems of internal cultivation. With that as the base in an experiential way we will explore how the vessels feel inside our body with a series of visualisations and practical hands on work using shiatsu touch in pairs. Within this framework we also explore concepts and realities about these vessels in how they become embodied, and how they may or may not relate to psycho-emotional states. We will discuss disease patterns connected with these vessels and also, crucially, their diagnosis using classical pulse diagnosis as a foundation.
Finally for each of the extraordinary vessels we will consider treatment protocols, and points that we can use, and discover that there are many alternatives the often used “opening and coupled” point pair combinations. We will think about the idea of “resonance” via the interlinking concepts of Sheng are Zhèng which are seen as expressions of the practitioner’s presence and therapeutic intention. And we will work towards the idea, perhaps just seem in glimpses, that health is the restoration of the field of qi and that the extraordinary vessels can and do play their part in this restoration. So there is plenty to look at and work with, and this two day seminar should mix theory, practical exercises and some therapeutic work as appropriate to explore this.
Oh: and we should have some fun on the way with this process of rediscovery together of this wonderful aspect of our channel system.
